Practice Information December 2021

Staff Update:

We are pleased to welcome Roz to our Reception/Admin team. Roz has many years’ experience in General Practice and some of you may remember her from when she was a locum for us a few years ago.

Late night Thursday and extended lunch time clinics

We offer a late-night clinic on Thursday. Patients are able to book up until 6pm. This might be ideal for you if you work till 5.00pm or have difficulty booking during the day. We have 2 doctors and a nurse in attendance. Lunch time appointments are now also more accessible between 12 and 2pm.

Funded Meningococcal ACW-Y Vaccine

For our young adults entering university, polytech, boarding school or the defence force who will be living in close quarters with others, there is a funded Meningococcal ACW-Y vaccination for you called Menactra. This is a one-off dose, with a booster available after 5-years if considered still in an at-risk living situation.

Adolescents and young adults aged 13–25 years inclusively who start within the next 3 months, or in their first year of living in a boarding school hostel, tertiary education halls of residence, military barrack, or prison are eligible. Click HERE for more information.

This group is also recommended to have a Meningococcal B vaccination called Bexsero( though not funded). Young adults should receive two doses of Bexsero spread 8-weeks apart. Each Bexsero dose is $135. See the statement from the Immunisation Advisory Committee below.

Bexsero is recommended but not funded for other infants and young children aged under 5 years, adolescents and young adults (particularly adolescents and young adults living in close proximity to each other, e.g. boarding school, university halls of residence or in long-term institutional care). Click HERE for more information.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Fortunately, we live in NZ, and we benefit from having data on the safety and efficacy of the millions of doses given so far. Vaccination is free for everyone, and we strongly recommend it. If you have doubts or questions talk to our doctors and nurses.

Please remember to scan in when you arrive at the medical centre and to be wearing a mask. We ask that you advise our reception team at the time of making your appointment if you have any cough, colds or flu like symptoms. You may be asked to ring from the carpark on arrival and wait for the clinical team to call you. This is a triage process to keep you and our team safe.

All our team are vaccinated!
