Practice Information February 2023

Covid-19 notice

As we no longer have our onsite cabin, if you are unwell with respiratory symptoms, wait in the carpark and phone through to let reception know that you have arrived. You will be told what to do next

Masks are currently still mandatory when visiting healthcare settings.
We ask that you keep them on in the waiting room and in our consulting rooms.
If you have a mask exemption, please let reception know on arrival.

Emails from patients

Please be aware that emails are not monitored round the clock. Our staff will do their best to respond to you in a timely manner, however on the day, clinical matters take priority.  A reminder that we cannot book appointments or take medical queries/medication requests via email. For urgent matters, contact us by phone on 03 548 27 63 or 03 546 82 03.

Staff Update

Dr Kate Brammeier has joined HSM as our new GP Registrar. Harley Street is a teaching practice for qualified doctors gaining additional specialist GP qualifications. During her time with us, which we anticipate will be long term, she will be under the tutorship of Dr Yen Chen. She has experienced many different specialties including Emergency Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She is a keen hiker, biker and potter hoping to settle in Nelson and build a lasting relationship with her patients and the local community.

It is with great sadness that we farewell Dr Sophie Hart who started her GP training with Harley Street several years ago as a GP Registrar, later moved away, then returned in 2021. Sophie has been a much-valued member of the HSM team and will be missed. She intends to work closer to home in the Marlborough region.

Availability of Appointments

General Practice is extremely busy at the moment due to staff shortage and increasing volumes of patients. Previously, Harley Street has been fortunate to be able to accommodate patients reasonably quickly, however this is no longer the case and we are having to triage the urgency of our patients. We would like to assure you that if our nursing team feel you need to be seen, they will liaise with a GP.

Missed Appointments

If you no longer require your appointment, please give us as much notice as possible so that we can use that appointment time for another patient.
A $15 fee will be charged for non-attendance to a scheduled appointment.
This only applies where patients do not contact us prior to the scheduled appointment to cancel it.

Prescription Requests Reminder

We do not accept prescription requests or provide medical advice via email. An appointment is always needed for certain medications e.g., antibiotics. Whichever way you order your medication, we will contact you if an appointment is necessary.

Repeat prescriptions require 24 hours to prepare. Advise us if you require your script more urgently, however this will incur an extra charge.

To help our nurses deal with the volume of prescription requests that require a GP to see you,
we would ask that you give yourself plenty of time to restock on your medication before it runs out.
It is not often possible to fit you in quickly.

Manage My Health (MMH)

We have noted that patients are booking appointments via MMH, which is fantastic,
however some are forgetting to click confirm, therefore turning up and no appointment is booked!
If you are making an online booking, do not forget to click CONFIRM or your appointment will not be registered by the system.

For any access issues or disappearing information/results please call 0800 664 123 as we do not manage the portal, the MMH team do.

Flu Vaccine for 2023

Flu vaccination sessions will be starting at the beginning of April 2023. We will advise our patients when they can start booking their vaccination and give more details regarding funding and vaccines available.
