Dr Maria Giouzeli - Associate GP

I was born and grew up in Greece. After high school I moved to London to do a degree in Biology at Greenwich University. My passion had always been psychiatry, which led me to do a PhD in Genetics of Schizophrenia at Oxford University. I moved to Newcastle to study Medicine. I worked in various house officer jobs there before I decided that GP is the right choice for me as it offers a more holistic care.

After working as a GP in various places in cold and grey Newcastle my husband and I decided to move to beautiful New Zealand, known for its great outdoors work-life balance. We brought with us our beloved three dogs. We have since adopted a rescue cat. The dream is to have land with a goat and a donkey to add to our family.

I was fortunate to join the team at Harley Street Medical which epitomises my love for GP: continuity of care for patients as a biopsychosocial entity, in a relaxed, friendly, and approachable environment. As for Nelson, what is there not to like!
