Originally from Southland, I consider Nelson home and have spent most of my life here.
After completing my degree in Christchurch, I spent some time in Auckland working at North Shore hospital and in Australia doing agency nursing before coming back to work at Nelson Hospital on the surgical ward.
The transition to practice nursing has been one I have been wanting to make for a while. I am enjoying getting to know the families of HSM and the continuity of care practice nursing brings.
I live locally with my husband, son and dog. I love to spend my time with family/extended family, tramping, and enjoying the sites Nelson/Tasman has to offer.
I grew up in Nelson and later returned to train as a Registered Nurse.
My nursing career has taken me overseas to the UK and Australia where I worked primarily in intensive care and emergency nursing.
Entering Primary Health has been a natural progression for me as it centres around my nursing values forming relationships with patients and their whanau. I enjoy helping people make healthy lifestyle choices and keeping people independent and active. I have a special interest in childcare and also palliative care.
Along with my husband and children we enjoy varied outdoor activities and look forward to being able to do more tramping and sailing now that the children are getting older.
After training in Christchurch, I moved To Nelson for my first nursing job in the public hospital. Since then, I have really settled into the Nelson way of life. My experience is in surgical and emergency nursing, but I have always felt a pull to primary health and preventative care.
Outside of my nursing role I enjoy getting outside, especially into the water, much to the dismay of my poor dog who feels a little left out!
Health Care Assistant
I have recently returned to live in Nelson and taken up the role of Health Care Assistant at Harley Street. My background as an Enrolled Nurse has given me varied experience both in New Zealand and Australia. With 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren in Nelson this became the ideal place to be!
I am looking forward to building relationships with both staff and patients at Harley Street Medical.
